Points to remember while working with Interior Designer

Things you should discuss with your interior designer before starting the work.

• Give your detail requirements for the work.
• Get at least two plans for the same. After discussing these plans with your family members and the interior designer himself finalize one of the plans.
• Do you believe in Vastu Shastra? Does your designer know anything about it? You can make furniture layout according to Vastu Shastra? This will increase the positive energy in your house.
• Ask for an estimate for the finalized plan. Remember this is an approximate estimate and generally, it will increase by 15 to 20%.
• You should ask for his fees. In India, some designers charge on %. That varies from 10% to 20% depending upon the volume of the work. Few designers especially from Mumbai charge per square feet. That varies from Rs 125 per square feet to 250 per square feet.
• Discuss the finishes to be used internally and externally for furniture. Paint for walls. Tiles for flooring etc.
• You will have to take a call if you wish to give your project as turnkey or you will do the whole thing and appoint interior designer as a consultant.
• Scheduling the work. Everyday coordination, procurement of material is a few more things you should plan with your interior designer.
